Monday blues, another dozen cups of thick chinese tea.. just to keep me awake. Luckily my client's meeting is scheduled to be tomorrow. Today is just like any other day; sitting by the office doing some work. Rewind the clock 1 round, yesterday I was out there struggling with my darling MTB. Sweet offroad MTB. Yang pelik, my upper body felt fatigue but not my legs.. Sapa suruh takmo tukar fork, my fork is already like roadie nyer da...
Saturday started with much persuasion to pancing my two other half bros to join me do the MTB orieentering at Gopeng. They were like the seesaw, kejap nak, kejap taknak. Finally, managed to hook them. It was more like rowers' reunion. Reaching there late, we opted for a cheap hotel in Kampar, instead of the well organized dorm-style packaged at RM35 per person. Mmg kedekut betul geng ni.. There were Majai, Wan, Tonga & me =)
Organized by Nomad, I knew it would be a nice race. This race demands some orienteering skill + mtb skill + of course your some of your brain & muscle work. Map to be given, checkpoints(CP) marked on the map & out you go to strategize your route. 15 CPs with different points, your mission is to collect most point in 5 hrs time. Meaning, if you are leisure-rider, you can do MTB at 3hrs, then balik. If too greedy, you might collect all points & exceed the 5hrs. Exceeding 5hrs cut-off would meant DQ.
We mapped out the most possible route. The higher the points, the higher the altitude of the CP. Haha, i planned to follow Tonga if i could & save energy on the thinking part =) However, i knew it was not quite possible. It turned out to be true, that I only managed to follow to the point that we Uturned after getting lost. Tongga, a navy guy N Wan sped up after the Uturn, & i was stuck behind the other riders. Power tak ckup.
Then I laid out my own plan & achieve as much as possible. Handpump was accidently dropped somewhere, & I kept on praying & conversing to my bike, that you r extremely pretty today & will do ur best (hehe, saiko sat) To get more points, I had to go up to those CPs. (kiasu betol) Beginning I was already pushing my bike, however, the route was so long that I gave up pushing the bike & rode instead. Da malas nak turun bike. Same for downhills as well. I m glad that I was not afraid of heights & downhills seemed manageable to me. Lagi2 time ada cameraman, lg tak push bike =)
At some point, i was drop dead tired & only could push my bike uphill. While doing that, i kept on laughing after overheard a group of uncles(big size) cursing each other for being greedy. They wanted huge points, but they were cursing all the way. Klako =)
When i ran out of time, i was still greedy to go for another CP. However, i was lucky that my path was blocked by a Seladang, then i knew it was time to head to basecamp. Overall ride was 4hr 40min. Pure satisfaction, 1 fall; 1 bruise only, & my bike were still in good condition. Collected 520points, highest point was by a Mat Salleh @ 720points.
I want to say big Thank You to my manager kat Pakistan. xoxo =)
Boss, can i get my rest today? Smlm kerja penat aaa..

whooaaa, you were 200 points less than the Mat Salleh - that's very good!
