Mesmerizing Malaysia

Malaysia dropped corruption ranking from 46 to 56 in the world, according to CPI (Corruption Perception Index). In fact, studies done on selected businessman/analysts/local experts. Still, every other country in Asia (China, Indon, etc) reduced their corruption index, except for us comparing 2008 to 2009. Unsure if the study is correct or not.

Yet, personal experience tell otherwise. Just in this week, I have encountered 2 nasty experience. 1st - due to the overly congested road *poorly design bottleneck road*, I had no choice but to overtake from the left lane (takmo ngaku salah). Unfortunate enough, a policeman stood right infront & stopped me straight away. He was more interested in me than the heavily congested traffic. Hey, i thought they were paid to relieve the traffic. I have came across polices at some other parts, encouraging drivers to use left lane so that traffic is relieved. Any how back to the story, he wanted to slap me a compound.

Macam mana, nak bayar compound ke bayar kat sini? kat sini murah sket (muka tak segan)
erk.. encik, first time lar.. mmg tak pernah buat gitu (lagi tak segan)

Then everything else happened & I was finally released after we came to end of discussion. Then the other case, having lunch with a client from government body. We are going to be his supplier. Well, even before deal was made, there were few requests being made already. All for their personal interest, allowance, vacations. Seeing both my boss & I are chinese, dengan selamba he requested for entertainment, alcoholic beverage etc. Well, I told my boss not to mention that my status as we need to secure the deal as well.

All this would not have happen if everyone play their part. Though, it would be hard to wipe out corruption if the higher level shows inadequate moral values as well. Check this out =)
