Help Me, Please...

Today's headline : 20 year old girl finally got her citizenship.She finally managed a citizenship right after meeting up with Dr Hishamuddin.

I kind of envy. My close kin had been applying for that, since he was 5 years old. The only mistake was being born in Singapore. And Singapore was part of Malaysia then. He had been living in Malaysia for his entire life. 50 years down the road, he is still applying.

Came election, he could only hear his friends praising, criticizing the political parties. He wished he could join their conversation, but deep in; he couldnt. Back with us, he enthusiastically repeated what his friends had told him, about country issue; development; N about how lucky we are to be able to vote. He had not been able to vote even once. Poor him.

Back then, he had applied various ways, numerous time. He applied with politician's recommendation letter. Or went for the BM test; to which he failed. Everytime there was a chance, there he was applying with hope. Hoping that one day, he would get his citizenship. However, it remained a dream. I had seen his application letter, some had fade writing on yellowish paper, some was powdery; yet he kept them all. He had once told me how he had his long journey to the application office, only to know it was rejected.

I had tried calling the ministry many a times, just to question what went wrong. However, she anwered its not questionable, it was the government's right. I could only reapply. But, sincerely how could we change if we do not know what or where went wrong.

Now that PM had given his first 13 gifts(one of it was citizenship); again he applied. He was among the 10% of the older chinese/indian there, remaining were Indonesians & a few other nationals. He was so happy that he could even apply. Result is yet to be known, however we have known many who had their citizenship approved, but not him. And time is almost up as it only valid till end of this year.
