Fasting during Pregnancy

Too early for this?? This question has been lingering in my head for quite sometime. See, I am not the type of person who is strong enough to fast alone. Previous ramadhan was a perfect score for me. I think I thought too much, & mind started to play around with my hormones. Yup, that explains why any race have to be completed physically & mentally. I am able to train morning & evening while fasting, but never tried fasting ALONE. Maybe Allah understands that I am not that strong after all. Maybe the moment will come sooner. One of my weaknesses. Sapa suh suke mkn =)

How about fasting while pregnant? It would be towards the last month of my pregnancy. I am doing researches after researches on the possibility. The answer came easy; boleh tapi jgn sampai memudaratkan badan & baby. Sounds easy. What if mother can tahan, but unsure of baby's health? My gynea is against it for simple facts based on a study done in Arab. However, it is ok for less than 5 month pregnant.

1) Baby needs glucose every now & then
2) Glucose level in baby drops drastically in the evening(if mum fasts) as their insulin level is not stabilized like adult
3) Some of baby's brain cells will die off due to lack of glucose
Nak baby pandai tak??? she asked

Yup, that alone is enough to let me wonder. Yet, i see a lot of pregnant ladies fasting during ramadhan. My friends are fasting while pregnant, baby seems ok. They have shown us that it is possible to be done as well. Hence, I still have 1++ months for the researches. Hmm, i find myself going against my gynea more often now...

No jogging <- i did
No cycling <-
i did
Yes to flying <- i did, but hesisated quite a while before doing so
No pineapple <- i occasionally did
Yes swimming <- i gladfully did
No fasting <- ermm..

Ooo, i wish my baby is not as stubborn as I am. I think hub should start strengthening his heart for double trouble after this.

  3. I also fast through my pregnancies. No complication. Take one day at a time.

  4. You're fit and seems your pregnancy is smooth sailing, should be ok to puasa. Might be a little but tougher than last year kot, esp since it'll be very near term, kan? I'd take it a few hours at a time. Masa sahur/iftar load up on fluids. It's very common for pregnant moms to fast I think.
