Phew, did i just gave some coachings on transition? I was called in to be in charge of the transition section during trikidz clinic.. My stomach nervous as a fluttering butterfly.. what to say in front of the kids? Public speaking was not one of my best skill.. Though I did triathlons alot of times, but action & words r 2 different things. I tried to imagine doing coaching, spoke alone etc, but it didnt help. Perhaps i should just act normal. Called up Steph the night before to reconfirm the transition facts.
Sat 21/3 - Trikidz clinic starts. There were a few categories, A, B, C, D & E. All sorted according to the age. Suddenly I saw the other coaches were talking smoothly as silk, coach dino & coach jaja; coach bukhari was up there in the pool. while me, i guess my first session with the kids didnt went well. Explained part by part to the kids, then asked the kids to do some simulation. I was kalut abit. Did they understand? I was asking myself. But they went on doing the transition nicely.. Right at the corner I saw Abu & wife smiling, on the other corner, A.zarin was shooting picture & smiling as well. Was it sinister smile? hehe, i did my best..
Then, Badrul came & suggested that we do sort of DEMO first, then explain. Kids would be understand more. So, Amir did his comical demo, which made the kids laughing aplenty. Things were smoother the next session. 2nd session was with the youngest category. They did the transition quite correctly as well. So, second session; I added more exercise as they need to bike after swim-bike transition & run after bike-run transition. Kids followed as well.
Teecha.. can we do this? Teecha.. can we do dat? =) they are sweet n angelic...
Then, 3rd session was with the eldest kids.. This batch of kids need no demo at all.. they are as good as us, some even smarter. came with carbon bike etc.. I had prepared to teach extra pieces of information; brought clip-on shoes, powder, whatever i think that could make their transition faster.. Bad showed how to mount on bike while shoes being clipped on, but lucky that no one intend to wear clip-on. just afraid that accident might happen.
Last batch was with the younger kids.. they were fun, & made some friends with them. C categories like to compare with each other, competant category. I challenged them to drink more water & they did. 5 cups of Milo.. dats alot.. Then the session ends. Then went to lepak with Abu & Rashid, they were in a midst of deep talk. Entah ape dorg gossip.. Then I went back.
The trikidz went well, as many were first timer as well. there are more stories from steph & d rest. but to me, being small part of trikidz really meant alot. Thanks to Amir, Bad & UM Volunteers
Sun 22/3 - Managed to slot in an early LG run to hartamas 19km in the morning. Saw Mac & some other runners, muka2 determined.
