Sweet bunch of kids.. sweet & delightful...
Trikidz - Duathlon this week, I volunteered to be coach.. Dragged along DayO, the bubbly coach. Some might even think she's one of the participants. Rashid was coach as well, mesti sume budak suka as they can mimic the Robocop.. Apart from us, there were other 11 coaches all ever ready to help out. This time the stucture changed. Instead taking care of 1 discipline, this time we take charge of 1 category only. My team hold the 9-10 years old category. C category amongst the most cheerful lot. Lots of fighting in between, lashing, questionning. but we didnt mind.
Early in morning, Stef briefed us on the coaching guideline. Stef is a natural coach. Then, Ros headed the warming up session. She is good coach as well. Some kids were just reluctant to let go of their parents. Mat was head coach, we started with transition-running- then biking. Lucky, many of the kids were already trikidz themselves. Hence, they absorbed every pointers given. The most important is to ensure them know the correct route.
Coaching went smoothly. Pointers given, tips being absorbed. Routes showed, kids getting excited. Next thing known, the kids started challenging each other.. kids - I wanna fight.. Me - No you don't, you will fight tomorrow ok... fight on bike-run.. ble plak budak2 nak fight...but overall session was incredibly exhilarating. Me, DayO, K.Rita & Mat were controlling the group. I guess, the most rewarding part was when a couple of Malay came over & say, "My girl could really understand what you taught, though it was in English..she will sleep at 9pm as said" hehe.. no wonder teacher is the noblest job of all.
End of session, we had this short chat & khalaj.. Eye-opening indeed, though i did this before.
